Gum Disease Treatment

Even with regular tooth brushing, professional dental cleaning is recommended at least once a year. This helps remove accumulated tartar and plaque and thoroughly clean the deeper areas between and around the teeth that are difficult to reach with regular brushing.

  • You should visit your dentist if you experience bleeding from the gums while brushing, pain or discomfort between the teeth, or frequent food trapping between the teeth.
  • If periodontal pockets develop between the teeth, a minor gum procedure may be required to eliminate these pockets and improve the health of the surrounding gum tissue.
  • When there are wide spaces between the teeth, special oral hygiene techniques and cleaning aids may be recommended to keep these areas free from food debris.
  • Periodontal treatment has advanced significantly in recent years, particularly in the treatment of loose teeth and the regeneration and strengthening of the supporting jawbone. However, despite these advances and the potentially high cost of treatment, successful results cannot always be guaranteed. The chances of achieving a favorable outcome are significantly higher when treatment is initiated at an early stage.
  • Patients with diabetes, impaired liver function, a history of radiation therapy, or those undergoing corticosteroid treatment may require more frequent periodontal examinations and closer monitoring of their gum health.
