In most cases, this procedure is performed under local anesthesia and involves the following steps:<\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A topical anesthetic is applied to the area where the injection will be administered, followed by the local anesthetic injection.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Once the anesthesia has taken effect, the decay is carefully removed using a dental drill and hand instruments, without causing pain.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A temporary filling may be placed if deemed necessary by the dentist.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The tooth is then restored using either amalgam (silver) filling material, tooth-colored composite resin, or an E-max ceramic restoration, depending on the condition of the tooth.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The choice of filling material depends on the location and extent of the decay. Each material has its own advantages and limitations.
